Philanthropy Summer Intern, Wayne County Community Foundation

General Responsibilities:
With the support of the President/CEO and staff, the Philanthropy Summer Intern will gain experience and understanding of the role of a community foundation, experience with fundraising implementation and reporting, assist with event planning and execution, and other programs at the Foundation. The intern will have the ability to shadow all four of the Foundation staff, when available, to learn about grant writing, grant and scholarship management, nonprofit management and communications, project development, community partnerships, the Wayne Tomorrow! initiative, and nonprofit capacity building.
Potential experiences:
1. Support the storytelling of the Foundation and its funds mission and stories through online newsletters, print materials, social media and press releases.
2. Support fundraising efforts of the Foundation
3. Photograph special events
4. Assist with grant writing
5. Assist with tabling or other public events when possible
6. Network with community leaders and participate in community development projects
7. Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.
Qualifications:
1. Student entering their senior year in the fall 2025 and are living in or attending a school district that serves Wayne County, PA
2. High Integrity; strong time management skills
3. Marketing skills (social media, newsletters and digital marketing) are a plus
4. Photography and videography skills preferred
5. Eager to learn about the philanthropic sector and nonprofit management
6. Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to use word processing computer programs.
7. Strong public speaking ability is a plus
Term of internship:
This internship will last 6-8 weeks and be up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour, starting after June 16. Internship hours will fall within normal office hours, 9am through 5pm, Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekend hours may be available for special events, but are not required for this internship. Students must have a valid student work permit in order to be considered for the internship.
Additional Requirements:
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a computer for multiple hours at a time. Must have reliable transportation to and from the Foundation’s office.
