The Foundation is committed to providing scholarships for deserving Wayne County graduating seniors. Starting in 1991 with the first Edwin Thomas Scholarships, the various awards continue to grow in number and size.
In 2008 twenty two scholarships were awarded totaling $33,500. The Foundation Board extends its congratulations to all those past recipients and urges them to keep in contact with the Foundation.

Application Process: The Scholarship application file is a PDF and may be downloaded. Although you will be able to download the file, you will not be submitting the application electronically. Please complete the forms and mail it to the addresses located on the Application.

Selection: The Scholarship Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Directors will review all applications making recommendation to the Board for its final approval. Students must be Wayne County residents attending either public or private schools. Selection is based on Academic Achievement and financial need. The Jeri Bigart Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students attending a technical (vocational) school. The Stovall Scholarship is awarded to ‘most academically improved’ Honesdale H.S. Senior. The Swendsen Scholarship is awarded to the highest ranking Honesdale H.S. Senior attending an accredited engineering school. The Earl and Merle Walters and Honesdale Lion’s Club Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Honesdale High School who is pursuing a degree in Optometry, Ophthalmology, and Special Education Vision Therapy. The scholarship may also support graduate/professional school tuition. The Seelyville Union Sunday School Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of any public or private school graduate residing in Wayne County who will pursue a degree in Theology or who will major in a field that will lead to a missionary vocation.
